About High Performance Driving Techniques
High Performance Driving Techniques is a Denver, Colorado area driving school which focuses on exposing students to a higher level of performance than most similar types of schools. Depending on the program of instruction the student has enrolled in, we use a combination of classroom and hands-on driving exercises in a ratio that is most conducive to maximize learning potential and retention of the essential driving techniques that we teach. In all cases, our schools strive to produce the highest quality experience in the safest environment possible.
Our main focus is in the area of On-Track Coaching for both motorsports enthusiasts as well as experienced drivers who simply want to become better everyday drivers.
On-Track Coaching Venues
Our On-Track Coaching program is designed to help current or aspiring racers and High Performance Driver Education event participants get the most out of their driving experience. The recent opening of High Plains Raceway near Byers in 2009 has facilitated this effort with their program of regular open-lapping days held on alternating Fridays during the driving season. High Plains is arguably Colorado's first elite-level road-racing racetrack and incorporates a wide variety of challenging types of turns into its 2.5 mile layout. As such, it provides an ideal environment for students to cultivate and refine the essential techniques needed to get the most out of their driving abilities!
Who We Are
High Performance Driving Techniques was founded by Bruce McPherson, an experienced sports car racer and instructor for numerous national and regional car clubs. An Information Technology consultant and software developer by trade, 
Bruce has been passionately involved in motorsports since the early 1990's and saw a need for affordable, high-quality driving instruction in the Denver-metro area. A short list of his experience includes:
- Chief Driving Instructor, NSX Club of America (1999 - current)
- GTC3 Class Porsche Club of America racer (2003 - current)
- Certified Porsche Club instructor (current)
- SCCA Formula Ford racer (1995-1998)
We have a number of similarly-qualified instructors that we call upon as needed, depending on group size.
